Connect on LinkedIn →Kamryn Coauette was part of the iJay Practicum from Spring to Fall 2023 (Cohorts 19 & 20) as a member of the Branding Team. Kamryn majored in Marketing, graduated in 2025, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership at Creighton. During her time in the iJay Practicum, Kamryn gained hands-on experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside a talented team. She was exposed to new technology and real-world projects that helped her grow my skills in branding, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. It also pushed her to become a more confident leader by helping Kamryn communicate ideas clearly, take initiative, and work effectively with others to bring a vision to life.
Currently, Kamryn is a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Enrollment Management & Admissions at Creighton University. She works closely with prospective students and families, helping guide them through the admissions process while representing Creighton University. A lot of what Kamryn learned in the iJay Practicum shows up in her day-to-day work, especially when it comes to communication, branding, and thinking strategically about how to connect with different audiences. The experience also helped Kamryn get more comfortable collaborating with others, taking initiative, and adapting quickly, which has been really valuable in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
"During my time in iJay, I helped bring a few new ideas to life that focused on building engagement and attracting new members. I introduced “Meet the Teams” to give people a better sense of team dynamics and what each group does, and I also helped roll out “Why the iJay” to highlight the value of the program and encourage more applicants. I also started a Bracket Challenge as a fun way to boost involvement in the spring and create a stronger sense of community. I enjoyed contributing to the way iJay shows up on campus, from brainstorming new ideas to working with others to improve both the member experience and how we connect with both current and prospective students."
The iJay Practicum played a big role in Kamryn's professional development by giving her hands-on experience in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. She built skills in branding, communication, and strategic thinking through real projects that required both creativity and structure. For example, she helped introduce initiatives like “Meet the Teams” and “Why the iJay,” which pushed Kamryn to think about how to clearly communicate value and connect with a specific audience. With these initiatives, it wasn’t just about coming up with ideas, but about making sure they actually resonated and drove engagement. One of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to stand out and keep people interested in a competitive, student-led environment. That meant being adaptable, open to feedback, and willing to refine ideas quickly. Kamryn also started a Bracket Challenge to create a more engaging and community-driven experience, which taught her a lot about execution and getting buy-in from others.
